Housetraining

A housetraining consultation in your home will bring improvement within days if not hours.

Here's a house training tip: To get your pup to reliably eliminate outside, place a container of treats in or near the desired area. Stand quietly near the treats. Then, when he finishes, reward him by reaching to take a treat out of the container and give it to him. This trains him that you will deliver the reward is a consequence of his action at that location.

Most generic house training recommendations are for large dogs; small and toy dogs benefit from modifcations to these standard programs. I understand the unique requirements of house training small dogs living in Los Angeles condos and apartments. Over the years, I have refined standard house training techniques to address their unique needs.

Cassie Jones, DVM:  Bill helps my clients get results quickly. He is realistic and knowledgeable about dog training and understands the problems we see in many dog breeds. He is also honest and straightforward about problems. I am not surprised that Los Angeles Magazine featured Bill Stavers as best trainer in Los Angeles.  His techniques are sensible and easy to follow.

Robert Olds, DVM Brentwood Pet Clinic West Los Angeles, CA: Bill Stavers has provided exemplary dog behavior counseling to my clients for the past two decades. Using sophisticated techniques, effective communication skills, and a supportive attitude, Bill brings a deep understanding of dog behavior to the task of enhancing the human-animal bond. Because of his hard work and the excellent feedback I've received from satisfied clients, Bill is one of the select few I confidently recommend to people seeking help with dog training and behavior problems.
